Hello and welcome to my corner of the internet. My name is Nicole, and I am a word nerd. I am a mom, wife, sister, cat-slave, bestie, and friend. A total book geek who’s been reading since I was three. A tea drinker who loves to make a pot of tea in the afternoon and drink most of it myself, though I am happy to share. I love plants, photography, cooking dinner for my family, Oxford commas, and browsing used book sales (you should see my haul from the last library sale!). I’m a Bruins/Sox/Revolution/Free Jacks fan (sorry football and basketball people) and I love the city of Boston and the town of Rockport and visit whenever I can.
I work as an HR assistant and dream of becoming a full-time writer. In the meantime, I read and write and query. I am the author of Held Captive, a historical romance set in the Roman Empire after the fall of Britain, and of This Is the Mask: Poems. Both books are available as e-books on Amazon. (Shameless self-promotion: https://www.amazon.com/s?i=digital-text&rh=p_27%3ANicole+Kapise+Perkins&s=relevancerank&text=Nicole+Kapise+Perkins&ref=dp_byline_sr_ebooks_1 ). I’d love it if you’d check them out.
So what will you find here? Books. Lots of books. (Did I mention I love to read?) I read a lot, and you’re going to hear all about it. I read mostly nonfiction across dozens of subjects; poetry, cookbooks, and fiction, though I am very selective (i.e. picky) about it. I LOVE a good fantasy epic. Alice Hoffman is a favorite author, as is Theodora Goss, Catherynne Valente, Joanne Harris, Erin Morgenstern, Mercedes Lackey, Madeline Miller….I could add so many more people! (And don’t get me started on nineteenth century literature. You’ll be here all day.)
Anyway, welcome to my blog. I invite you to look behind the mask, and I hope you like who you meet.
