NetGalley Review: How Would You Like Your Mammoth?

Thank you NetGalley and The Experiment Publishing for the review copy of Uta Seeburg’s “How Would You Like Your Mammoth?”

This was such a fun and informative book! I love reading microhistories, and while there is nothing “micro” about the history of food, Seeburg breaks down 12,000 years of historical cuisine into fifty bite-sized essays, each a savory treat for the mind. Despite their brevity, each essay is well-seasoned with facts and wit enough to satisfy any gourmand. (I should apologize for my terrible food puns, but I won’t.) In all seriousness, though, this is an incredibly engaging book, well worth reading.

This book was on my initial Summer Reading List before it got derailed by all kinds of extra additions. I received the review copy after it had been published; “How Would You Like Your Mammoth” was published on May 7, 2024.
